Our Foster Ladies
Everyone has heard a story or two maybe even three about animals that are abused or neglected. This particular event hit our hearts in a way that we just had to step in and help. Horse Heaven Stable was able to foster 6 of the humble horses that were so severely starved and neglected from Washington County in late February 2009. We have started an account for anyone who would like to donate your hard earned money to our foster ladies. We could also use any hay or grain you would like to donate. If you would like to do so please use the "Contact Us" tab and leave a short message and your contact information and someone will get back to you. Thank you in advance for the outpouring of donations.
Horse Heaven Stable
***UPDATE*** All of our ladies are putting on weight, feeling chipper and right at home here at the stable. We are requesting that any of our friends that have some horse experience and a little bit of extra time to come out to the stable and "play" with a horse or two. Any "hands on" with the girls will be greatly appreciated. We are currently working with all of the girls on grooming (including picking up their feet), cross ties, leading, lunging and bathing. Please feel free to come out and spend some time with these amazing animals. Although they love to spend the entire day in the field grazing they sure like the attention of a scratch and a hug and even a good workout. Again, Horse Heaven Stable thanks you in advance for your time and efforts!
*** UPDATE*** As we approach September 2009 and in 6 short months all of the rescued horses are officially adopted. Bisbee, Eyore and Flower are settling well in their new homes. We wish them health and happiness.
"Nanny", is ridden daily by the Jr. Barn Helpers here at the stable. She is enjoying the work and attention and is truly a special gal. We hope the conditioning will help her with her baby belly. Imagine, retiring as a riding horse! Funny ha!
"Bella", came to us thinking she would fall down if you picked up her feet. Now she's lunging well walk, trot, canter and we have begun riding her at the walk. She is so responsive to praise.
I believe this week she will be ready for her 1st. pair of shoes. I would be willing to bet she doesn't fall down!
"Felicity & Goldie" are happy campers and we will be weaning her late due to the late foaling.
*** UPDATE *** January 2010, OH how the winter wears on and on. We continue to prioratize the horse care and cleaning. The stalls have been in great shape. As it warmed a bit last week we actually got inspired to ride and lunge. So all in all we are keeping the spirits up. I have made some contacts regarding Felicity & Bella so maybe things will start moving again. We really only have about 5 weeks for our first arrival from our pony mares.
