Horse Heaven Christmas Party

On December 16th we all got together to celebrate our horsey friendships.
In the past we had the party while the kids were off school. We changed the format this year from a kids party to a family party. I thought it was a huge success and it looked like everyone had a great time.
We started with pony riding in the arena. Thanks to all the kids that got all the ponies cleaned and tacked. We had nine ponies (Irish doesn't mind being called a pony) all behaving and working together.

Videos will be posted on facebook
Gayle Mull & Horse Heaven Group
As usual everyone brought lots of food and we had pizza delivered for a very easy feast.
The kids played the Dirty Santa game and of course everyone was too generous to Gayle.
Equestrian of the Year was awarded, see home page for the winners.
Thank you all for a great evening!

Can anyone spot the picture that does not belong in this years party?
E-mail me your answer and we'll come up with a surprise for the winner.

Cox's Fun Show & Halloween Celebration
October 22, 2011

Megan & April and Marissa & Neekie attended along with the regular old folks; Kim, Teri and Gayle
The kids did great, with special mention to Megan for improving Aprils speed and turning skills to finish the day with a 19 sec. barrels pattern.
Marissa was awesome for her first show in keeping her canter going despite some heavy competition from the regular gaming kids. She even handled Neekie well when all the donkeys came out for the Costume Class. Despite them being dressed in costume,
Neekie knew they were DONKEYS!

Cox's Fun Show

More pictures of everyone that attended Cox's Arena Fun Show series this year. When we decided to go it was primarily to see if April could be competitive in the games. What we learned is April not only had fun with it, everyone that went had fun! The skills you learn at home, weather English or Western, help when it comes to turning with speed and balance.

Thoughts on what we learned at Rolling Rock this year.

Again, I have to reflect on the partnership of the rider and horse. In the stress of competition, this partnership can make or break you.
1) Knowing you and your horse's strengths and weaknesses.
2) Riding often enough for you and your horses fitness.
3) Using your lessons, so that you have a plan to handle nervousness at shows. Learn to keep you and your horse on the aids, so that when the unexpected happens we are prepared to handle it.
"Showing" is the test for what you've learned at home.
